Make Phishing Awareness stick
Make Phishing Awareness stick
Your employees have watched the presentation, completed the training and seen the phishing examples.
Now give them a different way to reinforce what they’ve learnt.
Clashing turns phishing awareness into a fast, social game where players match common phishing attacks with the defences that can stop them.
Developed by ANECT, a leading provider of ICT and cybersecurity solutions, this Clashing edition is focused on Phishing. Players explore how phishing attacks work, from deceptive emails to fraudulent websites, and learn to identify the most effective defences.
- After a training session - Give people an opportunity to put the messages they have just heard into practice.
- As a Lunch & Learn - Bring small groups together for a quick, informal awareness activity.
- During Cyber Security Awareness Month - Set decks out for teams to pick up and play throughout October.
- As a takeaway or giveaway - Give employees a branded deck they can continue playing after the event.

People learn differently. Some respond well to presentations or videos; others retain more when they can see, discuss, decide and do. Clashing adds that interactive layer, giving employees another way to engage with the same phishing awareness messages.
Train them. Then let them play.

How it works
Clashing uses two types of cards:
Red Attack cards show common phishing techniques and tactics.
Blue Defence cards show the actions and controls that can help protect against them.
Players must work out which defence best matches each attack. That simple mechanic gets people thinking about what the threat is, why it works and what they should do about it.
Too much bother? You could try learning all the pairs. Your boss will be happy you did.

Set-up
- Shuffle the 16 attack cards and lay them face down in a 4x4 grid on the left side of the table.
- Do the same with the 16 defence cards on the right side.
- Leave space between the two grids to flip cards easily.
Gameplay
Choose who starts. Play continues clockwise. On your turn, flip over one attack card and one defence card. If the cards match, you keep the pair, score 1 point and take another turn.
If they do not match, turn both cards face down again. The next player takes their turn and the game continues until all 16 pairs have been matched.
Winning
- The player with the most pairs (points) at the end wins.
- In case of a tie, the player who matched their last pair first is the winner.
