Got a game idea? Need feedback to grow it?

Calling all cyber thinkers and playful problem-solvers to submit an idea for a physical game that helps recognise digital threats, build resilient systems, respond to cyber incidents, or simply grasp the world of cybersecurity.

It’s a free-to-enter competition open to anyone with a knack for turning complex ideas into exciting, hands-on experiences.

Your Mission

We’re looking for an original game idea that does two things:

  1. Uses a physical format, taking any shape you like cards, boards, or something totally unexpected
  2. Delivers a meaningful cybersecurity outcome through play

Your game should use play to help people think about cybersecurity. The best ideas will connect the game goal with a learning goal, creating a hands-on experience that’s not just fun, but genuinely impactful.

What the winners get

We know great game ideas need more than a score. They need time, feedback, testing and the chance to become something people can actually play.

That’s why this year we’re recognising the top three entries, with support designed to help promising ideas move beyond the page and take their next step.

How will it work?

  • Your submission - Deadline 9th October

    The aim of the competition is to support creators wherever they are in the process. Maybe your idea is still on paper. Maybe you’ve made a rough prototype and tested it a few times. Either way, you’re welcome.

    This is about helping your game reach the next stage. Your written submission should focus on the core concept of your game: what it’s about, how it works, and why it matters. Tell us who it’s for, what cybersecurity issue it tackles, and how players will engage with it.

  • The Judging - 19th to 30th October

    Entries will be reviewed by a panel of experts in cybersecurity, education, and game design, people who understand both the challenges and the power of play. Submissions will be judged on:

    • Cybersecurity relevance
    • Creativity
    • Educational impact
    • Game engagement
    • Feasibility of Production

  • The Winners announced on 9th November!

    Following the judging process, we’ll recognise the top three entries and help the strongest ideas take their next step.

    The first place winner will work closely with CyberSec Games to turn their idea into a playable prototype, with a view to publishing and selling the finished game through CyberSec Games, with royalties on every sale.

Who can enter?

Anyone! Whether you're a game designer, cybersecurity professional, educator, student or just creatively curious, we welcome your entry - solo or as a team.

What kind of games are eligible?

We’re only accepting physical games. That includes:

  • Card games
  • Board games
  • Tabletop or roleplay games
  • Puzzle or logic-based games using physical components

No digital games.

What does the game need to be about?

Your game should explore a topic that helps people understand or engage with cybersecurity in the real world. Some areas include:

  • Cybersecurity Awareness & Behaviour
  • Privacy & Data Protection
  • Application Security & Access Control
  • Threat Modelling & Risk Assessment
  • Social Engineering & Human Factors
  • Incident Response & Crisis Management

Or even creative or satirical takes on cyber culture!

How much experience do I need?

None at all! We’re judging on ideas, not polish. Just explain your concept clearly, show how it works, and help us understand why it matters. Hand-drawn sketches are perfectly fine.

What do I need to submit?

Your entry must include:

  • A summary of the game concept
  • How the game works (mechanics, format, components)
  • Sample sketches or layouts (can be rough)
  • A short explanation of the design thinking behind it
  • Your contact details and a short bio

More details will be provided in the Entry Guidelines after you register.

What happens after I submit?

A judging panel made up of experts in cybersecurity, game design, and education will evaluate each eligible entry against key criteria. The scores will be compiled and the entry with the highest score will be chosen as winner.

What does the winner get?

The winning idea will:

  • Be prototyped for publication with production support from Cybersec Games.
  • Be published and sold via the Cybersec Games platform.
  • Earn the creator a royalty-based revenue share for every game sold.

Important note:
While Cybersec Games will provide support and expertise around game production, the winner remains responsible for creating the game content and assets including rules, design layout, artwork, and other materials needed for the prototype. CyberSec Games will help translate this into a physical product, but won’t provide illustration or content creation services.

Will I still own my game?

Yes. You’ll retain full ownership of your game. CyberSec Games will have the right to produce and sell your game for three years, but the intellectual property and creative rights remain yours.
