CyberSec Game Challenge 2026

Entries close 9th October

League-Style events

Turn game-based learning into a team challenge. Run short rounds throughout the day, build a live leaderboard and give teams the chance to return, improve their strategy and compete for the top spot.

Run a Security Architects League

Turn Security Architects into a competitive team event that can run for a few hours or across a full day.

The game helps teams explore Threat Modelling ideas and STRIDE concepts through discussion and play.

Running the event

  • 01. Form a team

Teams of 2 to 4 players can join at any point during the event.

Players take on the role of Security Architects, working together to respond to security threats and protect their organisation.

  • 02. Play for 20 mins

Each team plays through six rounds of Security Architects.

Players review the system components, make security decisions and try to protect as many reputation points as possible.

  • 03. Post the score

At the end of each round, the team records its remaining reputation points.

The six scores are added together to create the team’s final league score, which is then added to the live leaderboard.

  • 04. Come back & improve

Teams can play again during the event, but only their highest score counts.

That gives players a chance to rethink their strategy, apply what they learned and try to climb the leaderboard.

How the day feels

Teams can join at any point, play a short game, submit their score and see where they land on the live leaderboard.

As the day progresses, they can come back, rethink their strategy and try again, with only their highest score counting.

The leaderboard keeps the competition visible throughout the event and gives teams a reason to return, improve and climb the league.

Works well for Engineering days, Security Champion programmes, Internal security events, Conferences and Cyber Security Awareness Month

Run an Elevation of Privilege Challenge

Turn Threat Modelling into a practical, competitive drop-in activity that can run throughout a conference, engineering day or security event.

Running the challenge

  • Join the Challenge

Participants can drop in at any point during the day and take a seat at the table.

They are given a sample system architecture to explore, so they can start playing without needing to bring their own system.

  • Draw your cards

Each participant draws three random cards from the Elevation of Privilege deck using a card shoe.

The cards introduce different threat scenarios and give participants a starting point for analysing the architecture.

  • Idendify the threats

For each card, the participant must show show where the threat could occur within the system and explain the potential impact

Every valid threat is recorded on a threat card.

  • Score and compete

Each valid threat earns the participant a point.

Scores are tracked throughout the day, creating a simple leaderboard and adding a competitive element to the exercise.

Participants can return and take part again, giving them another opportunity to explore the architecture and improve their score.

How the day feels

The open format makes Threat Modelling easy to join and gives delegates practical experience applying security thinking to a system architecture.

At the end of the event, the highest-scoring participant, or team takes the top spot and can be awarded a prize.

Great for: Conferences · Engineering days · Security events · Security Champion programmes · Cyber Security Awareness Month
