Description

CyberRoll is a cooperative cybersecurity strategy board game for 1 to 10 players that brings the challenges of protecting an organization to the tabletop. Your mission is to survive three years of escalating cyber threats while balancing security, budgets, staffing, morale and reputation.

You'll face phishing attacks, ransomware, system outages, audits, unexpected budget cuts and the everyday challenges of keeping an organisation running. Every decision matters. Do you invest in stronger defences, address an emerging threat or preserve resources for the challenges ahead?

Created by Dr Molly Cooper and Peter Dillman, CyberRoll combines strategic gameplay with real-world security concepts and can be enjoyed by gamers, students, educators, and cybersecurity professionals.

How does it work?

  • Staff and Build Defenses

Hire team members and assign them to security controls. Train them for bonuses. Smart staffing decisions keep your defenses strong and your team ready for trouble.

  • Face Threats

Draw threat cards like phishing campaigns, ransomware, or advanced attacks. Roll dice to counter them while also managing audits, outages, and budget cuts.

  • Resolve Issues

Encounter unexpected complications and distractions along the way. Success keeps your company safe; failures force tough choices that test your strategy.

Who is CyberRoll for?

CyberRoll is designed for anyone who enjoys strategy, problem-solving and teamwork. It is particularly useful for:

  • Board game enthusiasts looking for a cooperative game with meaningful decisions.
  • Cybersecurity professionals and IT teams wanting to explore security challenges in a different way.
  • Educators and students looking for an interactive introduction to cybersecurity management.
  • Organisations and security teams wanting to encourage communication, collaboration and cybersecurity awareness.

Meet the Creators

CyberRoll was created by Dr Molly Cooper and Peter Dillman, combining their expertise in cybersecurity, education, IT leadership and game design. CyberRoll began as an educational approach to exploring real-world cybersecurity challenges. The game was recognised in the 2020 Innovations in Cybersecurity Education programme and subsequently developed into the commercial tabletop experience available today.

Together, Molly and Peter have created a game that brings cybersecurity out of the textbook and onto the table, where players can learn through strategy, teamwork and a healthy dose of controlled chaos.
